Frequently Asked Questions
At Over The Moon Wellness, we believe massage isn’t a luxury — it’s a way to care for your body, calm your nervous system, and reconnect with yourself. Below are some of the most common questions we’re asked about massage, bodywork, and lymphatic care.
Massage FAQ
Most people benefit from massage every 2–4 weeks, depending on stress levels, activity, and how your body responds. If you’re dealing with chronic pain, high stress, or intense workouts, weekly or bi-weekly sessions can be incredibly supportive. Massage works best when it’s part of your wellness routine, not just a once-in-a-while treat.
Massage that focuses on calming the nervous system — such as relaxation massage, gentle deep tissue, or intuitive bodywork — can help your body shift out of fight-or-flight and into rest and repair. Many clients notice better sleep, improved mood, and a sense of grounding after regular sessions.
Relaxation massage uses lighter to medium pressure and flowing strokes to calm the body and mind. Deep tissue massage works more slowly and intentionally into deeper layers of muscle and fascia to release tension and relieve pain. Both are beneficial — the best choice depends on what your body needs that day.
Yes. Massage can help reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and increase mobility, which often leads to pain relief. Many clients come in for neck, shoulder, low back, or hip pain and find that consistent massage helps them move and feel better in daily life.
Brazilian lymphatic massage is a specialized technique that supports the body’s lymphatic system by encouraging the movement of excess fluid and toxins. Clients often notice reduced swelling, improved circulation, and a lighter, more sculpted feeling. It’s especially popular for detox support, inflammation, and post-travel or post-surgery care (when appropriate).
Lymphatic massage is generally very gentle and safe, but it’s not appropriate for everyone. Certain medical conditions may require clearance from a physician. At Over The Moon Wellness, we always review health history and tailor sessions to ensure the work is safe and supportive for your body.
Your therapist will review your intake form, discuss any pain or goals you have, and explain what the session will feel like. You’ll always be properly draped, and pressure will be adjusted based on your comfort. Our goal is for you to feel safe, supported, and cared for from start to finish.
Some people experience mild soreness after deeper work, similar to post-workout soreness. This usually fades within a day or two and can be eased with hydration, gentle movement, and rest. Your therapist will always work within your comfort level.
Drink plenty of water, move gently, and give your body time to integrate the work. Many clients feel more relaxed or sleepy afterward, while others feel energized. Listening to your body is key.
Absolutely. Massage can help improve recovery, flexibility, circulation, and overall performance. Many athletes and active clients use massage as part of their training and recovery routine to prevent injury and support longevity in their bodies.
Massage, especially lymphatic-focused work, can help support circulation and reduce fluid buildup in the body. This can be helpful for people experiencing swelling from travel, inflammation, or lifestyle stressors.
A 60-minute massage is great for general relaxation or focused work on one area. For full-body work or deeper therapeutic sessions, 90 minutes allows your therapist to work more thoroughly without rushing. Two-hour sessions are ideal for clients wanting comprehensive, unhurried care.
We don’t believe so. Massage is a form of body maintenance and nervous system care. Many clients come in for pain relief, stress management, and overall well-being — not indulgence.
